A Preferred Physician Provider is a vein specialist whose professional credentials have been validated and verified. Best Vein Care’s verification process, which mirrors guidelines set by federal and state agencies, is both comprehensive and conclusive. This regulatory framework is the foundation by which a vein specialist is verified and a vein center is evaluated. Best Vein Care’s validation specialists, who are certified nationally in this area of expertise, conduct primary source verification on the provider’s education and training, licensure and certification, hospital affiliations and professional practice experience, including favorable recommendations from physician peers. In addition, pertinent queries are performed, which include a medical malpractice claims history, state and federal regulatory sanction report and a criminal background check.

The eligibility criteria for a Preferred Physician Provider was established by the founding fathers and refined by the Best Vein Care Advisory Board to identify physicians with a strong commitment to the treatment of venous disease. These criteria include but are not limited to board certification, the performance of one hundred vein care procedures and the completion of fifteen hours of phlebology-focused continuing medical education annually. When a patient seeks out a Preferred Physician Provider, they can be confident that the vein specialist is dedicated to the delivery of the highest quality of vein care.

Although the skills and expertise of a vein specialist are pertinent in the delivery of care, the venue in which the care is delivered is of equal importance. For this reason, the Best Vein Care Advisory Board, have established select criteria or Standards of Excellence to measure the overall care provided at a vein center.

To translate the Standards of Excellence into a rating system, a simple formula was developed that would affirm not only the strengths of the center, but identify the opportunities for continual quality improvement. The formula, which is objective in nature, consists of a value point assigned to each quality measure. The greater the impact a specific measure has on patient care, the higher the point value. For instance, the standards for a Safe Environment category carry 25 value points while 10 have been assigned in the Advancement of Vein Care. Although all the standards are important, the measures within the environment of care have a much greater impact on the quality of care and therefore holds a higher point value.

The application process for recognition as a Best Vein Care Center of Excellence is conducted in three phases, which includes the validation of the Physician Provider, the Vein Center Self-Assessment and the Site Visit. To accomplish this, Best Vein Care utilizes a variety of mechanisms, including but not limited to, primary source verification, referral recommendation, document evaluation, peer review, professional interview and on-site visit. A team approach is used to conduct these procedural processes, which include the Physician Quality Committee, the Chief Verification Officer and other Best Vein Care representatives.

Oversight of the recognition process is provided by the Physician Quality Committee, which reviews and confirms the findings of the three-part application. Because they serve as the “accountability and action” board, the members of the Physician Quality Committee serve voluntarily and have no financial interest or investment in Best Vein Care

While the Physician Quality Committee lends the final stamp of approval for recognition or accreditation as a Center of Excellence, it is the sum total of the measurement value points that determines the center’s designation status.

A Best Vein Care Center of Excellence has earned special recognition for its pursuit of quality excellence and, within this recognition, are two distinct designations. A Preferred Center of Excellence represents a vein center whose performance meets the Standards of Excellence. A Premiere Center of Excellence represents a vein center whose performance exceeds the Standards of Excellence. Recognition as a Best Vein Care Center of Excellence is synonymous with a commitment to pursue, achieve and maintain the highest quality of vein care today. For this reason, it is an invaluable resource for a patient seeking treatment or a physician seeking a vein specialist for his or her patient.
